The Resurrection Christian hockey team dominated puck possession and shots all night long, but fell down by two goals to eventually lose 2-1 to Standley Lake in the final game of the regular season. The Cougars (14-3-2, 10-2-2 Foothills League) got one goal back, but despite peppering the Standley Lake net in the third, the Cougars couldn’t find a key goal.
“They played great,” RCS coach Jake Pence said of his team. “We controlled the puck three-quarters of the night. You’ve got to bear down when you get chances, because they don’t come along very often. The third period was a microcosm of the whole game, we needed to score goals and we didn’t.”
The playoffs will begin next Friday for RCS, with the bracket being released on Sunday.
