Prep roundup: Windsor baseball team gets easy 13-0 victory over Aurora Central

A sterling pitching performance from Cole Brandon combined with bats on fire led the Windsor baseball team to a 13-0 win at home over Aurora Central on Thursday.

Brandon allowed one hit and no runs on the mound while striking out 12 batters. Windsor (3-2, 1-0 Tri-Valley Conference) racked up 14 hits on the way to its third-straight win. Mitchell Winner, Patrick Fischer, Lance Cox, David Watson, Greg Medina and Tyler Shubert had two hits each for Windsor.

Windsor will take on Roosevelt at 4 p.m. on Friday in a game moved from Saturday to try and avoid inclement weather.

GIRLS TENNIS

WINDSOR 7, SKYLINE 0 — The Wizards rolled to their second-consecutive sweep with a dominating home win over Skyline. Windsor didn’t drop a set all game and lost only six total games. Ashlee Lemos, Kelsi Kruger and Amanda Ward all won their singles matches.

The Wizards also worked some other players into the lineup with Chloe Barrett and Carissa Meline earning a sweep at No. 4 doubles.

BOYS SWIMMING

SILVER CREEK 106, WINDSOR 76 — Visiting Silver Creek won eight of 12 events to win Thursday’s dual. Windsor’s Ryan Kurtz qualified for state in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.62 as well as in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.52.

Andrew Scott qualified in the 200 IM at 2:03.74 and the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.50.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Kurtz, Scott and Cam and Cole Mills qualified for state with a time of 3:47.45.
