Hannah Gullickson scored two goals and the Navarre High girls soccer team powered past Crestview, 5-1, Tuesday in the District 1-4A quarterfinals.
After a scoreless 32 minutes in the first half, the Raiders took control, scoring back-to-back goals in the 33rd and 34th minutes for a 2-0 halftime lead at the NYSA soccer fields in Navarre.
“After they scored those two goals, they kind of calmed down a bit,” Navarre coach Rob Simon said. “Then, we scored in the 44th minute right after halftime, so I was able to use subs, and my starters got a good amount of rest. They played well, and I was pleased with how things went.”
Now, the third-seeded Raiders will play No. 2 Pace at 7:30 p.m. today in the semifinals.
“Tomorrow, we need to maintain our defensive shape and make sure that we’re communicating on the field,” Simon said. “Pace is a dangerous attacking team, so if we can do our job defensively and hold down their attack, we’ll be able to do some things.”
Hunter Moorer, Jade Whitley and Jenny Fitzpatrick also scored for the Raiders, while goalkeepers Julianna DeSalle and Ally Spicer combined for seven saves.
Today’s winner will play either Fort Walton Beach or Niceville in the district championship game at 7 p.m. Friday.
