Everytime Valders senior Lauren Brandl stepped onto the pitch, she was willing to do whatever it took to help her Vikings’ teammates win.
As Valders’ leading scorer the past three seasons, Brandl started the season at striker but would move to the midfield or even defense if that was what was required.
Brandl improved her game every season, being named second-team All-Packerland as a sophomore and junior before making the first team this season.
According to her coach, Brian Brandl, Lauren was was never the best pure athlete, the fastest, quickest or strongest, she just always worked to get better.
“Lauren loves soccer so much,” coach Brandl added. “I don’t think it ever seemed like work to her.”
The Vikings will be replacing a team captain and a top goal scorer next season, but coach Brandl knew it was coming.
“In every match for the past four years I knew I was going to be starting Lauren,” Coach Brandl said. “Its time for her to move on, but she will be missed.”
