Prep softball roundup: Kiel sweeps TR in DH

The Kiel softball team scored 16 runs in each game of its road doubleheader with Two Rivers on Monday, winning Game 1 16-0 in five innings and winning Game 2 16-4 in five innings.

Kiel opened Game 1 with a nine-run first inning and added four more in the second with its only scoreless inning being the top of the fifth.

Brooke Goehring earned the win, pitching three innings and allowing no runs on two hits and no walks with a strikeout. Teammate Maddie Kost pitched the final two innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on three hits and four walks with a pair of strikeouts.

Brooke Shillcox took the loss, allowing 13 runs — one earned — on eight hits and four walks in two innings. Marissa Broehm pitched two innings of relief, allowing three earned runs on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

Offensively, Kiel was led by Jess Groh and Ally Bonde who each went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

For Two Rivers, Bailee Walesh was 2-for-3.

In Game 2, Goehring once again earned the win, throwing five innings and allowing no runs on two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.

Shillcox took the loss, throwing three innings and allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 11 hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Broehm pitched two innings of relief and allowed five earned runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

Kiel opened with six runs in the first inning and added four in the fifth as Brenna Spencer was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Also for Kiel, Katie Kracht was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI while Marissa Meyer was 3-for-4.

For Two Rivers, Walesh and Broehm each had one hit.

Chilton 3, Roncalli 1

Christine Roberts took the loss for Roncalli in the road contest as she allowed two earned runs on five hits and one walk with five strikeouts in six innings.

Chilton scored one run each in the third, fifth and sixth inning while the Jets’ run came in the seventh.

Offensively, Roncalli was led by Hannah Severin and McKenzie Miller who each went 1-for-3 as Miller had the lone RBI.

LATE FRIDAY Man. Lutheran 4, Mishicot 2

Trailing 2-1 entering the seventh inning, Lutheran rallied with a run and then added two more in the eighth inning for the road win.

Offensively for Lutheran, Kaitlin Radue was 2-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base while teammate Hannah Yagodinski was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Jordan Menges earned the complete-game win, allowing no earned runs on two hits and three walks with nine strikeouts. Lindsay Bries took the complete-game loss, allowing one earned run on eight hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Offensive statistics for Mishicot were not submitted to the HTR.

Green Bay East 4-16, Manitowoc Lincoln 0-0

In Game 1, host Manitowoc Lincoln allowed four runs in the eighth inning for the loss.

The Ships had one hit as Shayna Schroeder was 1-for-2 with a double while teammate Raissa Reynolds was 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base.

Kaitlyn Sukowaty took the complete-game loss, allowing two earned runs on 10 hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

Green Bay East scored all 16 of its runs in the first three innings in Game 2 as Sukowaty allowed 10 runs — eight earned — on nine hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 11/3 innings while Hailee Kotche allowed six runs — five earned — on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 22/3innings.

The Ships had no hits in the game with Sabrina Luedtke and Schroeder each having one walk.
