SARTELL – Liz Lowery had a big day to lead the St. Cloud Apollo softball team to a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader sweep over Sartell on Monday.
Liz went 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Game 1. She followed up that perfomance by going 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI in Game 2. Teammate Melissa Gebhardt went 2-for-5 with three runs scored in Game 1.
Erin Deters homered twice for Sartell in Game 1. She was 3-for-4 with three RBI and four runs scored.
Freshman Markia Smith went 4-for-5 and knocked in one RBI in Game 2 for Sartell.
Sauk Rapids 4-2, Brainerd 2-12
SAUK RAPIDS – Kendra Christensen went 2-for-2 with two RBI in Sauk Rapids’ Game 1 win.
Jen Rasmussen got the win in Game 1 for the Storm (5-6 Central Lakes, 7-6 overall). Brainerd scored seven runs in the second inning of Game 2, which the Warriors won in six innings.
Rocori 3-6, Fergus Falls 0-11
FERGUS FALLS – Kassidy Klaphake threw a five-hitter with five strikeouts and had two hits to lead the Spartans to a 3-0 win in Game 1. Jill Rothstein was 2-for-3 with a double for the Spartans (7-3 Central Lakes, 7-3 overall).
In Game 2, Katie Heinen had two hits and three RBI and Jocelyn Metz added two hits and an RBI for Rocori.
Becker 13, Foley 3
BECKER – Winning pitcher Kadee Vesledahl helped her own cause with three hits, including a pair of doubles, and two RBI as Becker (11-0 Granite Ridge, 12-2 overall) rolled over Foley in six innings.
Janae Myers was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI, and Cassie Althoff had two hits and two walks for the Bulldogs, who collected 14 hits and 11 walks.
EDEN VALLEY-WATKINS 7-10, HOLDINGFORD 6-12
EDEN VALLEY – Holdingford scored five runs in the first inning and expanded the lead to 6-0 until Eden Valley-Watkins responded by scoring all of its runs in the bottom of the fifth to hold off the Huskers in Game 1.
Jamie Scherer went 3-for-3 with three RBI in Game 1 for the Eagles. Teammate Mindy Forcier also had a solid game one performance, going 2-for-3.
The Huskers came back in Game 2 as Alyssa Ohman went 2-for-4 and picked up the win.
HL-W-W 5-8, KIMBALL 4-3
HOWARD LAKE – The Lakers didn’t score one earned run as Kimball committed 10 errors in the doubleheader.
Kristen Smida went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a double for HL-W-W in the Game 1 win.
Shay Krippner went 3-for-5 in Game 1 for Kimball.
MORRIS 9, MELROSE 6
MORRIS – Senior Mckenzie Van Batavia got the win to lead the Tigers.
Brooke Johnson went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double, while teammate Steph Hennen went 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the win.
Nikki Zierden went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored and a triple for Melrose. Sheila Poepping was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Osakis 3, Sauk Centre 1
SAUK CENTRE – Amanda Kulzer’s RBI double accounted for Sauk Centre’s only run in its loss to Osakis.
A pair of errors in the fifth inning led to a pair of unearned runs off Mainstreeters pitcher Kaitlyn Durbin, and that proved to be the difference. Sauk Centre fell to 7-4 on the season.
