The Manitowoc Lincoln volleyball team took 17th at the 24-team West Bend Sprawl Invitational over the course of Friday and Saturday.
The Ships started off Friday by defeated Hartland Arrowhead 25-14, 19-25 and 15-12 before dropping consecutive matches to No. 1 ranked Menominee Falls (25-22, 27-25) and Wisconsin Lutheran (25-23, 25-23).
Lincoln fared better on Saturday, winning three of four matches. The Ships defeated West Bend West (19-25, 25-22, 15-13), fellow Fox River Classic member De Pere (27-25, 25-18) and Oostburg (22-25, 25-23, 15-13). The lone loss on Saturday came at the hands of Kenosha Tremper 25-22, 27-25.
“There was not a match that couldn’t have gone the other way,” said Lincoln coach Mary Beth Dixon via e-mail. “Every match was at a high level and it was an eye opener for our team to play at that level for two days.”
Mallory Dixon paced the Ships throughout the invite, tallying 151 assists over the course of seven matches while teammates Britney Youngchild and Alyssa Fischer each led Lincoln with 90 digs and 46 kills, respectively.
Lincoln hosts Notre Dame today in a battle of FRCC unbeatans.
