Manitowoc Lincoln setter Mallory Dixon was recently named honorable mention All-State by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association.

This season, Dixon was named first team All-Fox River Classic Conference for the second consecutive year.

Dixon totaled 974 assists this season, an average of 9.8 assists per set. Those marks placed her sixth in Division 1 and 10th in the state according to

“I think some of the credit has to go to our defensive players,” Lincoln head coach Mary Beth Dixon said. “Brit (Youngchild) does a fantastic job getting the ball to Mallory. They all feed off each other.”

The sophomore also accumulated 297 service points over the course of the year and picked up 45 aces.

“I think if Mallory were here…she would say that the awards and the accolades are nowhere near as important as the team (success),” Mary Beth Dixon said. “She wanted to make sure that the balls were being placed where hitters could put them on the floor.”

As far as the head coach is concerned, Dixon is one of many examples of players on the Ships’ roster who are more concerned about the greater good.

“They are all very team-oriented,” Mary Beth Dixon. “That’s very important for the team.”

Dixon will be honored at a banquet on Dec. 8 at Chula Vista in Wisconsin Dells.
