Manitowoc Lincoln’s Zac Youngchild and Two Rivers’ Paul Bianchi each attained All-American status at the USA Wrestling Junior Greco Nationals, Monday and Tuesday in Fargo, N.D.

In order to be tabbed an All-American, a wrestler must finish in eighth place or higher in his weight class.

Bianchi defeated Christopher Cuccolo (New York) to take fifth place at 106 pounds. Bianchi, who was down 5-0 at one point in the match, scored seven unanswered points to grab a 7-5 victory. He finished the event with a 6-3 mark.

Youngchild went 5-3 over the two-day tournament, falling to Chase Call of Idaho 8-0 in the seventh-place match.

The two were part of a contingent of four area wrestlers who were members of Team Wisconsin for the national event.

Ty Pelot, a senior at Two Rivers, went 3-2 at 120 pounds, picking up a pair of wins by pin and one by technical fall.

Kiel’s Matt Halverson finished the event 1-2 at 285, pinning Robert Barrios (California) in 3:37, before bowing out in the third round.
