BIG LAKE – The Foley Falcons are headed back to the state meet.
Foley, ranked third in the state in Class 2A, beat Becker 35-13.
In the semifinal, Foley beat Annandale/Maple Lake, 53-16.
In the final against Becker, the Bulldogs took an early 7-0 lead.
The Falcons got wins from Tyler Funk (120), Logan Lunde (126), Tristan Manderfeld (132), Keith Thell (138), Carter Nielsen (145), John Garceau (160), Tyler Midas (182), Mitchell Struffert (195), Cameron Svihla (220) and Mitch Keeler (285).
Becker beat New London-Spicer 41-22 in the other semifinal.
Milaca falls in final
PINE CITY – Chisago Lakes beat Milaca 40-23 in the Section 7-2A final to advance to the state tournament.
Milaca beat Grand Rapids 40-27 in the semifinals. Chisago Lakes beat Hibbing in the other semifinal.
BELGRADE – Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City beat Kimball 34-27 in the Section 5A final to advance to the state meet for the first time since 2009.
In the semifinals, Kimball ousted Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 35-27 and ACGC beat Paynesville 61-9.
Kimball got wins over BBE from Blane Tschida (113), Quinten Berres (126), Markus Hamer (145), Markus Mehr (160), Troy Flizen (170), Austyn Schlueter (195), Austin Schiefelbein (220) and Tim Konz to rally from an 18-10 defict against BBE.
MINNEAPOLIS – The Pierz Pioneers earned a trip to the state Class A team tournament by beating top-seeded Holdingford 39-18 at Patrick Henry High School.
It gives the second-seeded Pioneers a return trip to the state tournament.
Pierz beat third-seeded Aitkin 51-21 to advance.
Holdingford beat fifth-seeded Royalton/Upsala 38-24 in the other semifinal.
