The Two Rivers wrestling team finished second with 182.5 points at Saturday’s 15-team Freedom Irish Invitational to trail only Bay Port’s 266.

Kiel finished 11th with 73.5.

Two Rivers was led by Paul Bianchi at 106 pounds and Brian Deurschmidt at 182 pounds as the pair each finished first in the weight brackets. Bianchi received a first-round bye and went on to net two pins and a major decision in the championship match.

Deurschmidt also received a first-round bye and from there notched three straight pins for the title.

Cody Yauch (120), Chris Yauch (132) and Chandler Donati (145) each earned third-place finishes in their weight classes. Cody Yauch had three pins to go 3-1 while Donati and Chris Yauch each had one pin and two decisions to go 3-1.

Kiel’s Aaron Field was first in the 170-pound class as he earned three decisions and a major decision to go 4-0. Fields’ teammates Jay Wallace (145) and Matt Halverson (285) each finished second in their weight classes.

Wallace went had two pins and a tech fall to finish 3-1 while Halverson had two pins and a bye before falling in the championship match.

Mishicot duals

Mishicot went 3-2, including a win in the fifth-place match over Florence 48-30, at the eight-team event.

One of the Indians’ wins was over a JV reserve squad 48-0 while they also defeated Plymouth 48-22.

Mishicot’s two losses came to Laconia, 48-29, and West De Pere, 39-36.

A trio of Indians went 5-0 on the day as Weston Cracraft (120 pounds) and Luke Finnel (126) each had three pins and two forfeit wins while teammate Boone Young (132) had four wins by forfeit and one by pin.

Mason Cracraft, who was 4-0, won with two pins and two forfeit wins.

Hilbert Invitational

Roncalli finished sixth out of seven teams with 75 points as Kaukauna won with 216.

For the Jets, Spencer Fricke finished first in the 170-pound bracket. He had two decisions and three pins to finish the day 5-0.

Ben Kiel (145) and Stephen Heili (285) each finished in second in their respective weight classes.

Kiel won three of his four matches with pins as he fell in the championship match. Kiel also had a third-round bye.

Heili recieved three byes and won his first-round match with a 12-1 major decision over Kaukauna’s Nick Marquardt before falling in the championship match.
