The Two Rivers wrestling team found itself in third place in Division 2 and in fifth place overall after Day 1 of the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse.

The 55-team tournament is hosted by Holmen High School.

In the D2 team race, the Raiders (140 points) trail division leader Ellsworth (180) and returning WIAA Division 2 state champions Luxemburg-Casco 171

Individually, Ty Pelot (120) and Scott Skornicka (195) advanced to the semifinals for Two Rivers.

Paul Bianchi (106), Luke Duerschmidt (126), Chris Yauch (138), Tyler Kust (152), Cody Rebarchek (160), and Bobby Geiger (195) all advanced to Day 2 and will be competing in the consolation bracket today.

On the Water Classic

Both Manitowoc Lincoln and Mishicot participated in the opening day of the On the Water Classic hosted by Oshkosh Lourdes Academy.

For the Ships, Jose Acosta (126) and Zac Youngchild (145) advanced to the semifinals. Youngchild won the crown at 126 pounds at this event last year.

Mishicot’s Jon Brendenmuehl (285) advanced to the semifinals.

Weston Cracraft (138) and Mason Matthias (152) also advanced to the second day of competition for the Indians and will be competing in the consolation bracket.

Lincoln currently sits 20th out of 59 teams in the team standings after Day 1. Mishicot is in 38th.
