Price, Coakley lead Red Bank Catholic past St. John Vianney

Red Bank Catholic senior forward Alyssa Coakley had one goal and one assist to lead the No. 9 Caseys past No. 3 St. John Vianney, 2-0, in a Shore Conference Class A Central field hockey game Monday afternoon.

Coakley assisted on sophomore forward Erin Price’s goal at 4:05 and then registered an unassisted goal at 21:05 for the Caseys (3-0, 2-0). Freshman goalie Siobhan Cottell made four saves and St. John Vianney senior goalie Megan Guilbert made 11 saves for the Lancers (0-1, 0-1).

IN OTHER FIELD HOCKEY GAMES:

TOMS RIVER SOUTH 1, TOMS RIVER NORTH 0: Senior midfielder Victoria Alvarez passed the ball from the top of the circle to the right post where junior midfielder Sarah Roleke was waiting for the ball. Roleke then redirected the pass to the right side of the cage for the game-winning goal just 1:57 into overtime to lift the Indians (1-1, 1-1) over the Mariners in Class A South.

Junior goalie Madison Higley made eight saves and Toms River North senior goalie Kaitlin Maguire made 11 saves.

PINELANDS 2, JACKSON LIBERTY 1: Senior Elisha Hartman scored two goals, including the game-winning goal 7:07 into overtime as the Wildcats (1-1, 1-1) defeated the Lions (1-1, 1-1) in a Class B South game.

Hartman’s goals were both unassisted, the first one coming at 9:51. Jackson Liberty sophomore Gillian Vallaster evened the game at 1 with her goal at 55:58.

SOUTHERN 3, TOMS RIVER EAST 0: Bri Angellella, Mary Conroy and Madison Skeie each scored a first-half goal as the Rams (1-1, 1-1) defeated the Raiders (0-2, 0-2) in a Class A South game.

MATER DEI PREP 1, HENRY HUDSON 0: Jaime Luminoso scored at 25:56 and Celina Eosso assisted on the play as the Seraphs (1-0) defeated the Admirals (0-1) in a Class B Central game.

IN BOYS SOCCER:

FREEHOLD TWP. 1, MARLBORO 0: Late in an overtime period, Freehold’s Mark Fassno handled a touch at the top of the 18 and sent a crossing pass over the opposing goalkeeper to a wide-open Kyle Czajkowski, who tapped in for the game-winner in the 88th minute as the Patriots (2-0, 1-0) slipped past the Mustangs (0-2, 0-1) in a Class A North game.

LONG BRANCH 2, MATAWAN 0: Long Branch forward Fabio De Sousa scored one goal in each half, providing the only offense in the Green Wave’s (1-0, 1-0) shutout victory over the Huskies (0-1, 0-1) in a Class B North game.

RARITAN 4, MANASQUAN 1: Raritan’s Patrick Goggins scored a pair of goals while teammates Ryan Casciani and Cassidy Tripolitis each netted one of their own as the Rockets (1-0, 1-0) flew past the Warriors (0-1, 0-1) in a Class A Central clash.

Senior midfielder Rich Comer recorded the lone Manasquan goal.

MANALAPAN 1, CBA 0: In the 71st minute of a scoreless match, Manalapan’s Adam Weisberger delivered a pass to senior defenseman Brian Dolan, who scored the game-winning goal as the Braves (2-0, 2-0) toppled the Colts (0-1, 0-1) in a Class A North game.

RB CATHOLIC 1, SJ VIANNEY 0: After a defensive mishap in the backfield, Red Bank Catholic’s Chris Cesario scooped up a loose ball and put it in the back of the net in the 10th minute as the Caseys (1-0, 1-0) moved past the Lacers (0-1, 0-1) in a Class A Central game.

Senior keeper Nick Schweizer preserved the shutout by making nine stops as the Lancers outshot the Caseys 12-4.

IN GIRLS SOCCER:

RARITAN 0, MANASQUAN 0: The Warriors (1-0-1, 0-0-1) and the Rockets (1-0-1, 0-0-1) played 100 minutes of scoreless soccer as Manasquan’s Bridget Ford (12 saves) and Raritan’s Kayla Quinn (21 saves) were dominant forces in goal.

RB CATHOLIC 1, SJ VIANNEY 0: In the 54th minute of a scoreless game, Grace Correll and Kelly Jacoby worked the ball to sophomore midfielder Olivia Lucia, who found the back of the net and gave Red Bank Catholic a one-goal lead that would stand up as the Caseys (2-0, 1-0) moved past the Lancers (0-1-1, 0-1-1) in a Class A Central clash.

FREEHOLD TWP. 3, MARLBORO 0: Sophomore midfielder Nicole Whitley recorded the hat trick while teammate Maria D’Amico connected for two assists as the Patriots moved past the Mustangs in a Class A North game.

IN VOLLEYBALL:

COLTS NECK 2, HOLMDEL 0: Colts Neck’s Samantha Panicali delivered nine aces, two kills, and 11 assists while Shannon Tice added two aces and six kills as the Cougars (1-0) ran past the Hornets (0-1) in a nondivisional meeting.

Holmdel’s Katie Giacumbo drilled four aces and dug out 13 shots in the defeat.

TR NORTH 2, BRICK 1: Nicole Vazquez led the way for the Mariners (2-0, 1-0) with 13 kills, four blocks, and nine digs en route to victory in a Class A South matchup.

RUMSON-FH 2, RED BANK 0: Rumson’s Natalie Pellizzi recorded eight kills, two aces, and five digs, while Kate Edwards had nine kills, two blocks, and three aces, and Elena Sourlis dealt out 17 assists as the Bulldogs (1-1) roared past the Bucs (1-2, 1-0) in a nondivisional match.

HOWELL 2, RARITAN 0: Howell swept of Raritan by scores of 26-24 and 25-21 as Tara Mirconch recorded two assists, seven kills, and 12 digs, while Rebecca Franey added two aces, five assists, three kills and 14 digs as the Rebels (2-0) defeated the Rockets (0-2) in a nondivisional meeting.
