The top-seeded Southern boys lacrosse team continued its successful season with a 19-5 victory over sixth-seeded Monroe to win its first NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV sectional title on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams (17-1) were leading the Falcons (14-9) 3-2 after the first quarter, but scored six goals in the second quarter and shut down the Falcons offense to take a 9-2 lead at the half.

Southern continued its scoring outburst with 10 goals in the second half to seal the victory.

Brendan Mullen scored a game-high six goals, and had two assists. Dylan Jinks scored four goals and had two assists, and Tyler Lipositz scored one goal and led the Rams with four assists.

Joe Collins scored four goals and had one assist, and Connor Parke scored one goal for the Falcons.

RUMSON 10, BERNARDS 6: Michael Clarke scored four goals and had one assist to lead the No. 1 seed Bulldogs (18-2) past the No. 2 seed Mountaineers (18-5) to capture the school’s first South Group I sectional title.

Hunter Rotchford scored two goals and Christopher Hubler scored one goal and had two assists.

Griffin Connor led the Mountaineers with four goals, and Robert Schaufler scored one goal and had one assist.
