Claire Zielinski was third for the girls and David Leone fourth for the boys as Port Clinton captured its third consecutive combined Ottawa County Meet championship Tuesday.
Oak Harbor’s Tyler Sievert won the boys race while Genoa’s Carly Gose took the girls portion.
Kennedy Gulas was fourth for the Redskins’ girls while Nick Reineck was fifth for the boys.
Elliot Kowalski was second for Put-In-Bay’s boys, Jake Wistinghausen third for the Rockets and Kyle Farrell was sixth for Genoa. Trinity Gephart was second and Taylor Dunn fifth for Oak Harbor’s girls.
“This was the most exciting Ottawa County Meet in history,” Rockets coach Gina Warnke said. “Ottawa County was well represented from all schools.”
Port Clinton’s girls finished first while Oak Harbor’s boys won their portion. The Redskins won the overall title based on sixth runners.
“We talked about what we had to do to be successful (Tuesday),” Port Clinton coach Seth Benner said. “The boys ran great and competed very well. We just didn’t quite do it. Oak Harbor’s boys were too much for us. I am very proud of how the boys really pulled together to be competitive right down to our last runner.”
