Teha Richards hit two career milestones Thursday night as Tri-Village put itself in position to win another sectional title.
Richards netted a career-high 40 points and went past 1,000 points for her career as the Patriots blasted Springfield Emmanual Christian 107-13 to reach a Division IV sectional final in Ohio girls basketball.
Tri-Village (22-2) will face Newton at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Brookville for the sectional crown. The Patriots have won three straight sectional championships.
“It was awesome to see her get it. The cool thing was, Brookville allowed her to be presented the ball, which I thought was really neat,” Tri-Village coach Brad Gray said of Richards reaching 1,000 points.
“Just a good night for her all the way around.”
Shaye Thomas scored 15 points for the Patriots, while Heather Ferris netted 12 and Lexie Bruner scored nine.
Ecko Brown, Elizabeth Collins and Raya Mikesell all scored eight points, with Krystal Falknor scoring seven.
Thomas also went past 1,000 points for a career earlier this season.
“There are not a lot of places that have two 1,000-point scorers on the same team,” Gray said. “I think that’s something that is pretty neat.”
