Winning events at invitational track meets usually is a good sign for a team.
Placing first and second can vault a team onto victory.
The Ripon boys grabbed the top two places in three different events at the Klinkner Invitational and came away with the team title at the seven-team meet.
James Vander Galien and Evan Long grabbed the top two places in the 400 meters, and were joined by Noah Potratz and Elias Nelsen on the winning 1,600-meter relay team.
Nelsen also added a win on the track in the 200 meters.
Ripon had an even stronger showing in the field events where Evan Elliot and Bryce Bauman were first and second in the triple jump and Trevor Robichaud and Dylan Klosterman were first and second in the discus.
Bauman also added a second place in the high jump, while Elliot was second in the long jump.
The Tigers finished with 172 points to easily outdistance host Chilton for the team title.
Katelin Cunningham grabbed the lone win for the Ripon girls, who finished third at the meet — one point behind Kiel. Cunningham won the 400 meters.
Kiana Platte in 100-meter hurdles and Addy Baker in the 300-meter hurdles each finished second, while the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter relay teams also finished second.
