MONROE — Cory Costanza had 15 points as Riverside defeated St. Thomas Aquinas 60-49 in the 2013 LHSAA Class 2A boys state championship Game Saturday in Monroe.

Herb McGee added 13 and Charvon Julien had 11 points as the Rebels (28-5) captured their first state championship in two years.

Vincent Walker lead St. Thomas Aquinas (27-7) with a game-high 17 points. Kaylan Richardson had 11 for the Falcons.
Riverside broke out to a 12-3 advantage and led by as much as 12 in the first half. St. Thomas Aquinas closed to take a 44-42 lead with 5:21 to go in the game after a pair of Walker free throws.
With 3:09 to play, Riverside went on a 7-0 run behind a pair of 3-pointers by Costanza to take a 54-47 lead.
