MONROE — Thanks to 15 points by senior center Robert Pratt, the Carroll Bulldogs defeated the Farmerville Farmers 68-64 Thursday night in the LHSAA Class 3A Boy’s State Championship Game.
Trailing for a majority of the game and by as many as 13 points, Carroll (26-6) would finally take the lead with 2:51 to go on Devonta Johnson’s basket, and James Donahue followed with a bucket of his own to make it a 60-56 lead with 2:20 remaining in the game.
Opening the game on an 11-2 run, Farmerville (25-7) would lead for most of the game behind a stifling defense that led to several fast-break opportunities throughout the first three quarters.
DeAndre Elliott led the Farmers with 17 points and Dontario McNeal scored 13 in the loss.
Senior guard JaCarre Crockett had 14 points for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs also won the championship in 2011.
