Rochester’s James Young, who will play for Kentucky next season, injured a calf muscle and will be unable to play against Troy Athens on Friday night. He also will be unavailable for Saturday’s nonconference game against No. 2 Romulus and Tuesday’s game against No. 8 Rochester Adams.
He may not even be ready to play when boys basketball districts begin March 4.
“They told us if he responded really, really well to treatment, they could for see maybe coming back Monday for districts,” said Rochester coach John Pleasant. “But they said it’s probably two weeks we’re looking at, and that would be for the district final.”
Young, 6-feet-6, is averaging 27.6 points and 15.2 rebounds.
