The unbeaten Oak Harbor boys soccer team and Woodmore’s one-loss girls are top seeds for their sectional brackets.

“Satisfaction is not reached until you win the state title, not only as an individual but as a team,” Rockets forward Connor Eli said.

The Rockets play the Oct. 14 winner between Lake and Toledo Central Catholic at 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at Lake for a sectional crown. The Wildcats face Genoa at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at Genoa.

The Woodmore/Comets winner plays the Oct. 15 winner between Northwood and Huron for a sectional crown at 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at Genoa. Oak Harbor’s one-loss girls are the second seed in the bracket and face the Oct. 12 winner between Ottawa Hills and Cardinal Stritch for a sectional championship Oct. 19.

“We’ve worked very hard for it,” Woodmore senior Leah Henry said. “We have talented freshmen in the lineup. We’re all very excited.”

The Wildcats topped the Rockets during the regular season and are in the midst of a 10-game win streak during which they have scored 44 goals and allowed four. Woodmore is unbeaten in the Northern Buckeye Conference with one game to play while Oak Harbor’s only blemish in the Sandusky Bay Conference is a tie.

“Going into tough games we want it bad,” Henry said. “One goal was to win the NBC. That was one of the biggest goals. We have a good chance of going far.”

Lily Rothert is one of the Wildcats’ freshmen. She said the team thrives on its cohesiveness.

“Business as usual,” she said of the team’s mindset. “Focus, perform, execute. Our motto is together as one. We work as a true unit. We have a lot of potential to go far in the tournament because it’s harder to beat a team that works together as a unit than a team who has three or four individuals who stand out.”

Woodmore faces Cardinal Stritch at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at Ottawa Hills in Division III.
