Rockets diver Hertting heads to state

Neenah’s Hazel Hertting qualified for the WIAA Division 1 swimming and diving tournament by winning the one-meter diving at the Neenah sectional on Friday.

Hertting compiled 496.30 points to capture the event by a wide margin. Oshkosh West’s Becky Procknow was second with a score of 385.10.

The winner in each sectional event advances to state, along with the top 18 scores statewide among divers who didn’t win their sectionals.

Last year, the cutoff to advance to state was 322.05 points, a total surpassed in Friday’s Neenah sectional by the Rockets’ Caitlin Miller (362.90) and Allison Paupst (343.80) of Appleton West/Kimberly.

Appleton West/Kimberly’s Alyssa Krueger totaled 288.05 and teammate Abigail VanderHeiden finished with 262.50.
