Roundup: MTCS football improves to 2-0

Middle Tennessee Christian School made it two shutout routs in a row to start the season with a 35-0 win over Zion Christian.

The Cougars had a 33-0 win over Cannon County in their opener a week earlier.

Justin Winn was 9-of-12 passing for 197 yards and three TDs. He hit Trey Hickey (85 yards), Austin Melton (62 yards) and Griffin Harper (84 yards) for one TD each.

Tanner Green led MTCS with 116 rushing yards and three TDs on just 16 carries. Nick Merritt ran for 81 yards on three rushes.

The Cougars racked up 425 yards of total offense. Braden Melton led with six tackles.

Oakland Middle 2, Stewarts Creek 1

Faith Adams and Katie Webb scored one goal each in Oakland’s victory late Thursday night.

Riverdale 2, Blackman 2 (tie)

Riverdale and Blackman tied in district play. Riverdale’s Stitch Leek scored on a 43-yard free kick in the first half. Then Leek scored again on Maddie Faulter’s assist.
