Newark graduate Anni Thomasson continues to take the Southeastern Conference by storm.
Thomasson became the first Kentucky freshman in program history — and just second overall — to record more than 30 kills and 20 digs in a five-set victory against LSU on Sunday. Thomasson had 30 kills and 22 digs.
Thomasson’s performance earned her SEC player of the week honors and was the first for an SEC player since the 2010 season. She had a .373 hitting clip and was perfect in receiving 29 serves.
Thomasson previously had earned SEC freshman of the week honors. The Wildcats entered the week 18-6 overall and 10-3 in SEC play.
