Albertus Magnus’ Jack Sullivan scored 26 points, including 19 in the first half as the fourth-seeded Falcons rallied from a double-digit deficit to defeat No. 13 Panas 70-66 in a Class A first round game on Friday. Vaughn Dweck hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 of his 32 points in the first quarter. Albertus’ Tom McConnell had 19 points and Matt Dale added 10. He went 4 for 4 at the line in the final minute.
The Falcons will host No. 5 Peekskill in the quarterfinals at 7 on Tuesday.
Byram Hills 65, Beacon 63, OT: In the first round of the Class A playoffs at No. 1 Byram Hills, Mike Giacomo’s lay-up at the buzzer after a Jeff Lynch steal gave the Bobcats the win. Byram trailed the Bulldogs 58-55 with 0.5 seconds remaining. Brian Skelly hit a 3 at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime. Ryan Golden scored 28 points. Lynch added 11 points and 12 assists, and Skelly scored 16 points. Byram Hills hosts No. 8 Somers Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
Somers 62, Gorton 46: In the first round of the Class A playoffs at No. 8 Somers, Matt Moros had 20 points and John Decker had 15. Rashan McKay had 12 points and Dane Williamson had 10 for the No. 9 Wolves.
Tappan Zee 62, Riverside 49: In the first round of the Class A playoffs at No. 6 Tappan Zee, Eric Casey had 26 points and 20 rebounds. Luke McLaughlin scored 17 points. Eddie Jackson scored 14 points for No. 11 Riverside. Tappan Zee heads to No. 3 Poughkeepsie on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
Eastchester 74, Rye 66: In the first round of the Class A playoffs at No. 2 Eastchester, Jack Daly had 31 points. Mike Marsico had 13 while Mike Milo had 10. Max Twyman had 44 points for the No. 15 Garnets. Drew Abate had 10. Eastchester will host No. 10 Pelham in the quarterfinals Tuesday at 7 p.m.
North Rockland 72, Suffern 33: In the first round of the Class AA playoffs at No. 2 North Rockland, Malvin Rosario had 16 points and nine rebounds. Charles Nardone had 10 points and Omar Idolor had eight points. Kevin Jefferson had seven points for Suffern. North Rockland will host No. 7 Scarsdale in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
Spring Valley 66, Kennedy 33: In the first round of the Class AA playoffs at No. 1 Spring Valley, Rickey McGill had 20 points and four steals. Kai Mitchell had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Dunkin (12) and Davonte O’Neil combined for 22 rebounds. Danny Cruz had 10 points for the No. 16 Gaels. The Tigers will host the winners of No. 9 New Rochelle in the quarterfinals Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Fox Lane 62, Ossining 46: In the first round of the Class AA playoffs at No. 6 Fox Lane, James Morales had 19 points while Will Quaranta had 13. Carlito Carvalho had 10 points while Nick Bonura had 11 rebounds. Noah Morton had 12 point for the No. 11 Pride while Stephen Espinoza-Hunter had 10. Fox Lane will travel to No. 3 Mount Vernon in the quarterfinals Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
Scarsdale 56, Clarkstown North 45: In the first round of the Class AA playoffs at No. 7 Scarsdale, Jon Cohen scored 19 of his 21 points in the first half. Jack Hewitt had 11 points. E.J. Smith had nine points for the No. 10 Rams.
Mahopac 61, Mamaroneck 31: In the first round of the Class AA playoffs at No. 5 Mahopac, Brendan Hynes led all scorers with 26 points. He added six rebounds and five assists. Teammate John Vitkus had 11 points and seven rebounds. Scott Greenburg scored 13 points for No. 12 Mamaroneck. The Indians will play at No. 4 Arlington on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
New Rochelle 67, Clarkstown South 36: In a Class AA first round game at No. 8 Clarkstown South, Joe Clarke scored 30 points for the ninth-seeded Huguenots, who outscored South 38-13 in the second half. Khalil Edney added nine and Antoine Lewis had six, hitting a pair of 3’s. Joey Zayer led South with 15 points.
Dobbs Ferry 67, Pleasantville 56: In the first round of the Class B playoffs at No. 4 Dobbs Ferry, Eric Paschall had 20 points. Nick Kost had 18 points and Josh Smith had 10 points. Jack Eisenberg had 25 points for Pleasantville. Dobbs Ferry will host No. 5 Woodlands in the quarterfinals.
Woodlands 50, Rye Neck 47: In the first round of the Class B playoffs at No. 5 Woodlands, Jamil Gambari had 14 points and Brandon Johnson had 12 points. Matt Franks had 14 points for No. 12 Rye Neck.
Blind Brook 52, Valhalla 40: In a Class B first round game at No. 6 Valhalla, Jeff Visoky scored 17 points for the No. 11 Trojans. Sam Adler scored 16 points and teammate Jacob Berk added 11. Terrance Tribble scored 11 points for the Vikings. Blind Brook will visit No. 3 Lourdes Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
North Salem 74, Pawling 57: In the first round of the Class B playoffs at No. 8 Pawling, Umar Singh had 31 points and 17 rebounds. Thomas Bond had 17 points and seven assists. Joey Tunas had 15 points. No. 9 North Salem will play at No. 1 Briarcliff Tuesday.
Putnam Valley 44, Hastings 39: In the first round of the Class B playoffs, Zach Coleman led the No. 2 Tigers to their first playoff win in school history with 15 points. Joe Tino hit six 3-pointers and finished with 18 points for No. 15 Hastings. Putnam Valley will host No. 10 Edgemont Tuesday.
Edgemont 58, Croton-Harmon 45: In the first round of the Class B playoffs at No. 7 Croton-Harmon, Paul Emdin and Jack Keeny both scored 19 points. Gagan Chahda had 14 points. Ian Thom had 24 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers.
Briarcliff 63, Irvington 42: In the first round of the Class B playoffs at No. 1 Briarcliff, Brian Daniels had 19 points and seven rebounds. Jared Jones had 16 points. Spencer Seabrook had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Tierney had 11 points for the Bulldogs.
