The top-seeded Shore Regional field hockey team, the defending Shore Conference Tournament champion, defeated No. 16 seed Keyport 10-0 in a SCT first-round game Tuesday.

Carol Middough paced the Blue Devils (12-0-1) with five goals. Shore sped to a 6-0 first-half lead.

IN ANOTHER FIRST-ROUND GAME

WALL 4, TR SOUTH 0: Junior attack MaryCate Gallagher netted two goals and added one assist, leading the No. 4 Crimson Knights (14-1) past the No. 13 Indians (10-3-1).

Senior midfielder Nicole Kuerzi added two assists. Also scoring goals were Emily Surgent and Bernadette Crehan.

IN GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

BARNEGAT 2, CENTRAL 0: The Bengals (17-4, 11-1) won Class B South, besting the visiting Golden Eagles (11-3, 10-2).

Barnegat also captured Class B South in 2010. Nikki Casertano led the Bengals with three kills, nine digs and 20 assists. Sara Ridgway added five aces, seven kills, two blocks and two digs. Meg Nichols contributed 10 kills and six digs. Maia Lloyd added two kills and five digs.

For Central, Audra Didzbalis had six digs and five assists. Katlyn Kuster added three kills, three blocks and six digs. Samantha Farrau notched 10 digs and two kills. Ashley Marino added five digs.

RED BANK CATHOLIC 2, WALL 0: Led by Sara Benjamin’s four kills, two blocks, 11 digs and 16 assists, the Caseys (16-2) downed the visiting Crimson Knights (15-2) in non-divisional action.

Tara Rempel added four kills, eight digs and four aces. Mary Yachnik contributed five kills and four digs. Kristen Ryan added 13 digs. Rosemary Smith contributed five kills.

Anna Litowinsky led the Crimson Knights with six kills, four blocks, four digs and three aces. Taylor Mitchell added three digs and 14 assists. Veronica Portelli contributed four kills and four digs.

JACKSON MEMORIAL 2, TR NORTH 0: Gianna Perez handed out 18 assists and added three kills and eight digs to lead the host Jaguars (13-4, 9-3) past the Mariners (10-4, 8-6) in Class A South.

Brianna Roath added seven kills and 15 digs. Nicole Warshany contributed five kills and six digs. For North, Danyelle Morales scrapped for 25 digs. Chandley Schalhoub added eight digs and two kills. Amanda Wrightson had four kills and four blocks. Sydney Binkley added 12 assists.

JACKSON LIBERTY 2, LAKEWOOD 0: Paced by Gillian Eppinger’s two aces, five kills, two blocks and five digs, the visiting Lions (4-12, 4-8) topped the Piners (1-17, 1-12) in Class B South.

Melanie Patterson added two aces and three kills.

HOLMDEL 2, LONG BRANCH 0: Tiffany Cheng’s 11 digs and 16 assists led the visiting Hornets (3-14) past the Green Wave (3-14) in non-divisional action.

Lana Kandalaft added six kills and 12 digs. Katie Giacumbo contributed 16 digs and two aces.

LACEY 2, BRICK MEMORIAL 0: Sarah Jakositz’s nine assists and Victoria Dickinson’s two digs and five kills propelled the visiting Lions (7-9) past the Mustangs (5-13) in non-divisional play.
