Coming off a comeback win Monday night at Kaukauna, the Fond du Lac baseball team kept the good vibes going Tuesday with a 9-2 road win over Oshkosh West in Fox Valley Association play.
Everyone in the Cardinals’ lineup had a hit as they scored two runs in the third inning, three in the fourth and pulled away with four in the sixth.
Devin Simon had a quality outing in his first varsity start on the mound, giving up one earned run in seven innings, along with two walks and six strikeouts. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate.
“It was just a tremendous effort in his first varsity start,” Fond du Lac coach Marty Paulsen said. “He held them in check.”
The Cardinals had 13 hits. Logan Wendt went 2-for-4 with a three-run double in the fourth, while Ian Lock and Blaine Evans also had a pair of hits.
It’s been a nice turnaround since Fondy lost 26-0 in its season-opener to Oshkosh North.
“Our kids’ confidence at the plate has been great,” Paulsen said. “I give our kids a lot of credit.”
