KOKOMO – Rebecca Dinkel outlasted Logansport’s Brooke Bullard 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles to help the Harrison girls tennis team advance to the Kokomo Regional championship with a 3-2 victory Tuesday,
The Raiders had a far easier time in doubles, losing just four games to offset singles victories by Logansport sisters Whitney and Rachel Jennings. The other half of Harrison’s sister act, Meghan Dinkel, teamed with Megan Hawkins to earn a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Abby Greer and Karli Armstrong at No. 1.
Rachel Taylor and Cailynn Holm dominated 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 over Logansport’s Kayleigh Dance and Rachel Sims.
Awaiting in today’s title match is top-ranked Carmel.
GREENCASTLE – Crawfordsville advanced to today’s championship match with a 5-0 victory over Northview.
Kassidy Bonebrake (No. 1 singles), Hannah Chalmers (No. 2) and the doubles teams of Mia and Lizzy Katzenberger and Elizabeth Flynn and Emma Heinold all won in straight sets.
The Athenians will take on Terre Haute South, which swept Seeger, 5-0.
Sophie Marquie and Alissa Brouillette of Benton Central won their opening doubles match in the individual tournament at Greencastle.
Marquie and Brouillete topped Owen Valley’s Lexi Heck and Hannah Corder 6-1, 6-1.
North Montgomery singles player Abby Williams advanced in the individual tournament with a straight-set victory.
Also advancing in the state tournament is Twin Lakes’ No. 1 doubles team of Brittany Connell and Chayse Lehocky, a 6-2, 6-2 winner at Kokomo over Cora Johnson and Molly Shoffner of Western.
