Lazaro Sosa’s squeeze bunt scored Dallas Adkins in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Butler High School baseball team an 11-10 victory over Fairdale on Monday in a Sixth Region Tournament quarterfinal at Eastern.
Butler (20-12) led 9-5 after six innings, but Fairdale (17-19) took advantage of two wild pitches and a bases-loaded walk to score five runs in the seventh and take a 10-9 lead.
Butler tied it in the bottom of the seventh on Kyle Goodman’s sacrifice fly.
The Bears advanced to face Jeffersontown at 5 p.m. today in a regional semifinal at the University of Louisville’s Jim Patterson Stadium.
* Jeffersontown 1, North Bullitt 0: Chad Hagan tossed a four-hitter to lead the Chargers (15-19) over the Eagles (23-16) at Eastern.
“He had control of all three of his pitches today,” J’town coach Scott Fluhr said of Hagan. “He got into a couple of jams, but he pitched out of them.”
Brent Whaley’s RBI groundout in the fourth inning accounted for the only run.
* Bullitt East 6, DeSales 0: Jonathan Recktenwald pitched five innings and got the victory to improve to 10-0 as the No. 11 Chargers (33-3) beat the Colts (13-17) at St. Xavier.
The Chargers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, getting a two-run triple by Hunter Wood. Bullitt East will face Pleasure Ridge Park at 7:15 p.m. today in a regional semifinal at U of L.
* Pleasure Ridge Park 15, Bullitt Central 0: Greg Laughlin pitched two innings and got the victory to improve to 9-1 as the No. 6 Panthers (32-7) whipped the Cougars (16-17) at St. Xavier.
