SJCC's Will named MAL coach of the year


St. Joseph Central Catholic seniors Cassidy Frank and Jordan Sessler were recognized as first-team all-Midland Athletic League players as the league’s all-conference basketball teams were recently released.

Senior Dalton Perry and junior Hunter Perry were each for first-team for Old Fort, which won its first league title since 2002. The Stockaders, Crimson Streaks and New Riegel all tied for the boys league championship. SJCC coach Jonathan Will was named boys’ coach of the year after leading the Streaks to their first league crown since 2001.

SJCC seniors Connor Dudley and Zach Yeckley were second-team selections.

Old Fort senior Cole Davidson and Lakota senior Kody Brewer were other second-team picks.

The Raiders’ Stephanie Miller and Katie Park were honorable mention, along with Colin Timmons and Nate Ray.

Mackenzie Gillett, AJ Phillimore and Matt Hill were honorable mention for the Stockaders.

SJCC’s Be and Brennan Reardon, Hunter Harrison and Ryan Williams were honorable mention.

Carey senior Hannah Tong was girls’ player of the year, while New Riegel senior Brandyn Reinhart was the boys’ player of the year.
