Slow start sinks Fond du Lac in FVA opener

Kaukauna 3, Fond du Lac 1: The Cardinals couldn’t overcome a sluggish start as they fell in their FVA opener to the Ghosts.

Kaukauna won the first two sets 25-14, 25-12, before Fondy came back and took the third 25-22. The Cardinals had chances to extend the match to a fifth set but lost 30-28 as Kaukauna won the match.

“All of a sudden we woke up in that third game,” head coach Royal Smit said. “The team I thought we were was there in the third and fourth game. We just weren’t ready at the start and I take responsibility for that.”

Aaron Wendels finished with 25 kills and Adam Baltz added 22 to lead the way for Fond du Lac. Matt Dilling finished with 36 assists.
