MIDDLETOWN – Quarterback Matt Smith rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns as Tower Hill cruised to a 45-6 victory over St. Andrew’s in an Independent Conference game on Saturday afternoon.
Smith ran for scores of 10, 3 and 5 yards and went 3 for 8 for 64 yards in the air. Running back Sam Murphy rushed for 122 yards including touchdown runs of 27 and 70 yards. The Hillers (7-0, 2-0) also scored on a safety and a 3-yard touchdown run by Taurus Pinkney.
Donovan Simpson ran a kickoff back 65 yards for the only St. Andrew’s touchdown.
St. Georges 42, Dickinson 6ST. GEORGES – Taronn Selby and Tymiere Griffin scored two touchdowns each as St. Georges downed Dickinison in a Blue Hen Flight B game.
Taronn Selby scored on a 35-yard run and then caught a 62-yard touchdown pass from Zach Wright to start off a 29-point first-quarter explosion for the Hawks (6-1, 4-1). Griffin scored on runs of 20 and 30 yards.
Wright went 3 for 4 for 138 yards and threw two touchdown passes.
McKean 12, Christiana 6CHRISTIANA – Quarterback Darius Jones rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown and threw for another to lead McKean over Christiana in a Blue Hen Flight B game.
Jones ran 16 yards for a touchdown to put the Highlanders (4-2, 2-2) ahead 6-0 in the first quarter and then fired a 12-yard scoring toss to Steven Kellam to break a 6-6 tie in the second quarter.
The McKean defense was led by linebacker Markese Marlowe and defensive linemen Tug Hawkes and Malick Diallo.
Sami Toler scored Christiana’s touchdown on a 1-yard run.
Archmere 54, Conrad 2CLAYMONT – Archmere scored 34 points in the first quarter and went on to notch a victory over Conrad in nonconference action.
Quarterback Brian Rogers went 7 for 9 for 166 yards and threw an 87-yard touchdown pass to John Nocket. He also scored on a 16-yard run. Jack Malloy scored two rushing touchdowns.
DMA 33, St. Elizabeth 6GREENVILLE – Tyler Lewis scored two touchdowns to lead Delaware Military to a victory over St. Elizabeth at A.I. du Pont High.
Trampas Henderson, who ran for 81 yards on just three carries, got the Seahawks (5-2) on the scoreboard with a 60-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Lewis caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Jacob Hudson later in the quarter.
Friends 42, Tatnall 7GREENVILLE – Jack Kempner ran for two touchdowns and passed for another as Wilmington Friends downed Tatnall in an Independent Conference game. Jake Erskine ran for 69 yards and a touchdown for Wilmington Friends (2-4, 1-0).
Charter 23, Delcastle 20WILMINGTON – Matthew Oliver ran a touchdown and threw for another as Charter of Wilmington rallied from a halftime deficit to edge Delcastle in Blue Hen Flight A action.
Robbie Johnson caught a touchdown pass from Oliver, while Lameck Muaka ran for another touchdown for the Force, which trailed 14-8 at the half but took the lead to stay at 16-14 in the third quarter.
