Senior Martha Smith and freshman AnneMarie Schnoor each won two events as the Middletown South girls swimming team defeated Marlboro, 92-78, in a Shore Conference Class A North meet at the Raritan Bay YMCA on Monday afternoon.

Smith won the 200 individual medley (2:26.95) and the 100 butterfly (1:07.16) while Schnoor won the 50 freestyle (25.76) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.77). The Eagles (5-0) also won the 200 freestyle relay (1:57.93).

Marlboro senior Jane Posner won the 200 freestyle (2:26.95), sophomore Joanna Han won the 500 freestyle (5:25.75) and junior Risa Goldberg won the 100 breaststroke (1:13.36). The Mustangs (1-3) also won the 200 medley relay (2:01.42) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:57.93).

IN BOYS SWIMMING:

MARLBORO 113, MIDD. SOUTH 57:

Senior Joe Torres won the 200 freestyle (1:48.8), junior Josh Gross won the 100 freestyle (55.73) and freshman James Rush won the 100 backstroke (58.6) as the Mustangs (4-1) defeated the Eagles (3-2) in a Class A North meet.

Marlboro also won the 200 medley relay (1:48.8), the 200 freestyle relay (1:40.99) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:39.76).

Middletown South junior Chris Bonardi won two events — the 500 freestyle (5:32.82) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.75) — and sophomore Andrew Smith won the 200 individual medley (2:04.0).

IN WRESTLING:

WALL 36, MATAWAN 31: Freshman Brett Donner (160) continued his impressive start to the season with a 6-5 win over two-time District 21 runner-up Chris Hartigan for the difference as the Crimson Knights (3-1, 1-1) beat the Huskies (3-4, 1-3) in a Class B North match.

Donner (13-1) broke a 4-4 tie midway through the third period with a takedown. Hartigan then escaped, but Donner held on for the win.

Matawan’s Tim Leo (138) concluded the match with pin of Dan Kinsella, the District 23 runner-up at 126 last season.

MARLBORO 37, COLTS NECK 36: Peter Powell’s 9-8 win over Peter Ottaviano in the 132-pound bout, the final one of the match, gave the Mustangs (1-6, 1-2) the win over the Cougars (1-6, 0-2) in a Class A North match.

Powell was third in District 21 last year at 126. Ottaviano was third in District 21 at 103 in 2011.

Colts Neck had grabbed a 36-34 lead with consecutive wins by forfeit at 120 and 126.
