Today’s snow postponed high school sporting events across Delaware, but the action is scheduled to resume Saturday.
The St. Mark’s at Salesianum boys basketball game, which annually draws one of the largest crowds of the regular season, will be played at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets ($4) had been sold at both schools throughout the week, but will also be available at the door.
Also in boys basketball, today’s Indian River at Laurel, Sussex Central at Cape Henlopen, Polytech at Seaford and Woodbridge at Delmar games were postponed, with no makeup dates scheduled yet. Saturday night’s Hodgson at William Penn game also has been postponed, with no makeup date.
In girls basketball, No. 2-ranked St. Elizabeth will play at No. 4 St. Mark’s at 2 p.m. Saturday. Caravel will play at Archmere at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, and the Sanford at Tower Hill game was rescheduled for 3:45 p.m. Monday.
Also in girls basketball, today’s Glasgow at Dickinson, Milford at Caesar Rodney, Laurel at Indian River and Delmar at Woodbridge games were postponed, with no makeup dates scheduled yet.
In wrestling, today’s early rounds in the Canal Classic at Middletown High were rescheduled for Saturday. The Tower Hill Tournament and St. Mark’s at Sussex Central match were canceled.
Saturday night’s wrestling showdown featuring No. 3-ranked William Penn at No. 1 Smyrna was postponed, with no makeup date scheduled yet. Today’s Church Farm (Pa.) at Wilmington Friends match and Saturday’s Christiana at Mount Pleasant match were postponed, with no makeup dates. Saturday’s Conrad at Delmar match was rescheduled for Feb. 6.
In swimming, today’s Salesianum at La Salle College (Pa.) High boys meet and the Sanford vs. Archmere boys and girls meets at the Walnut Street YMCA were postponed, with no makeup dates scheduled yet.
The Henlopen Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, which had been scheduled today at the Worcester Recreation Center in Snow Hill, Md., will now be held Feb. 1, starting at 2:30 p.m.
