Soccer: Centaurus stuns Denver South in shootout

LAFAYETTE – No. 22 Centaurus continues to impress, as they beat Denver South in Penalty Kicks to advance to the quarterfinals of the 4A state tournament.

With Centaurus holding a 2-1 advantage in the shootout, Ventura Dominguez came up with a big save that would help the Warriors extend their lead to 3-1.

On the next shot attempt for South, Roch Alico buried a shot in the bottom right corner to pull the Rebels within one. Centaurus would miss their next shot, allowing South a chance to the tie the shootout at 3-3, but Dominguez came up with yet another crucial save, setting up the game winning goal by Eric Spangler.

Centaurus will face No. 3 Cheyenne Mountain in the quarterfinals on Nov. 2.
