Liam Nethercott broke a scoreless tie in the 66th minute to help his Webutuck High School boys soccer team to a 2-0 Mid-Hudson Athletic League victory over visiting Dover on Friday.
Nick Barnes assisted on the Warriors’ opening goal, before scoring one of his own three minutes later.
Austin Brown turned away five Dragons shots for the shutout, while his counterpart, Dylan Grispin, made six saves.
The Warriors improved to 6-2-1, while Dover dropped to 0-4-2.
Late Thursday, Webutuck had defeated John A. Coleman Catholic, 5-1, with Barnes providing two of the goals. Tomas Espinosa, Leo Gonzalez and Andrew Thrasher also scored for the Warriors.
Also Thursday, Dover tied Onteora, 0-0, with Grispin making six saves.
Wallkill 10, Pine Plains 0 — Kyle Henderson made four saves, but the host Bombers fell to 0-8 overall.
Sean Cray had four goals for Wallkill (7-0).
Pine Plains visits Millbrook at 10 a.m. today.
Yorktown 3, Our Lady of Lourdes 1 — Stephen Grunbok scored an unassisted goal for the Warriors in the first half late Thursday.
David Pafumi turned away 11 of the Huskers’ shots in the loss.
John Jay-Cross River 2, Beacon 1 — David Adams scored for the visiting Bulldogs (3-6) on an assist from Brandon Bernardi late Thursday.
Beacon hosts Yorktown at 11 a.m. today.
Brewster 2, Pawling 0 — Sean Snow made four saves for the host Tigers and John Farrell made eight late Thursday, but Pawling fell to 1-3-1.
Ciarda Hall had a hat trick as Beacon defeated host Pawling, 6-0.
Jessica Jenkins and Caitlin Sheehan each had a goal and an assist for Beacon (2-5). Emma Haran also scored.
“This was a real necessary win for us,” Beacon coach Jeff Matus said. “We’re a little beat up, and it was good to come out and find the back of the net.”
Beacon goalkeeper Mary Hernandez made four saves. Ali Carlson made seven saves for Pawling (2-5), which faces Brewster on Tuesday.
Haldane 7, Peekskill 0 — Bailey McCollum scored four goals in the Blue Devils’ victory.
Kate Lahey scored twice and Jessica Harrison also found the net. Haldane did not allow a shot on goal.
Somers 1, John Jay 0 — Brianna Durland made 14 saves, but the visiting Patriots lost on the Tuskers’ Homecoming Day on Jessica Rosenblum’s goal with seven minutes left.
“(Somers) was playing with a lot of emotion,” John Jay coach C.J. Greenwood said. “We played as well as we could coming off an exciting win against Arlington (on Wednesday). Things didn’t fall into place for us.”
John Jay hosts Section 9’s Monroe-Woodbury in a non-league match today at 11 a.m.
Goshen 1, New Paltz 0 — Mikayla Cochrane turned away 11 of Goshen’s shots, but Camille Bowen’s first-half goal was the difference.
New Paltz (5-3) hosts Rondout Valley on Monday.
Brewster 4, Poughkeepsie 0 — Chelsea Pompa made 14 saves, but the host Pioneers (2-5) lost to the Bears.
Rondout Valley 5, Webutuck 1 — Shelby Adrian scored the lone goal for the Warriors (0-6-1), who host John A. Coleman Catholic on Monday.
For Rondout Valley (2-5), Amelia Foreman scored twice, both during the first half.
North Salem 2, Arlington B 1 — Maddy Rose scored a girl early in the second half on an assist from Amanda Brennan, but the visiting Admirals lost.
Arlington B (3-2-1) hosts Beacon at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday at LaGrange Middle School. Arlington B coach Kristen Dexter is a Beacon graduate and played soccer for Beacon coach Jeff Matus.
