Sophomore Georgie Super was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple and five RBI on Thursday, helping the Poughkeepsie High School softball team turn away visiting Haldane, 8-6.
“She had a huge game,” Pioneers head coach Eilis Petrosino said. “That (performance) was a big part of today’s game.”
E’lantra Means, Kiara Pittman and Kiamani Thomas each contributed two base hits toward the winning effort. Thomas had an RBI for Poughkeepsie (14-4).
Thomas made an over-the-shoulder catch in shallow left field playing shortstop with Haldane runners on second and third in the top of the seventh inning to end the game.
“They did really well,” said Petrosino, whose Pioneers host their Senior Day game against North Salem on Monday.
“(Thursday was) one of our last home games, so they’re trying to scrape it all together.”
Marissa Lisikatos and losing pitcher Marley Chefalo each doubled for the Blue Devils, who also got a triple from Maisey Curto.
