Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler’s softball team sent its seniors out in style with a 6-4 win over Random Lake Monday night.
The Crusaders scored three runs in the first inning to take an early lead, only to see the Rams respond with runs in the first, fourth and fifth to take a 4-3 advantage. Lutheran/Kohler retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth and never gave it back.
Ashley Truttschel went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Sara Ertel had two hits and drove in three runs and Alyssa Blaha added two hits for the winners, who honored Truttschel, Haleigh Kaiser, Blaha and Kyleen Bruckner on Senior Night.
Bruckner picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Abby Smith got the save.
Random was led by Sarah Dahm with two hits. Ashley Risse took the loss allowing five earned runs on 11 hits.
“I deeply appreciate the dedication and commitment to our program from these four seniors honored today,” Crusaders coach Tom Rusch said in a statement. “Their work ethic and determination to improve as players and their ongoing contribution to the team will be missed greatly. I see nothing but great things down the road for these four gals.”
