The division title race in Shore Conference Class A North might get a little wild during the coming weeks.

After Freehold Township took on its second divisional loss earlier in the week, the Patriots rebounded in a big way on Thursday, knocking off division leader Middletown North, 6-4, to regain the top spot. The victory put Freehold Township a half-game in the win column ahead of the Lions. The Patriots (8-3, 7-2) have three division contests remaining, while the Lions have four.

Freehold Township’s Marissa Barnes went 3-for-4 while Kerri Sinker went 2-for-4 with three RBI during the two-run win, as pitcher Jordyn White scattered eight hits and walked four while striking out seven. For Middletown North (7-3, 6-2), Quinn Thornton swatted an RBI double.

MIDD. SOUTH 6, MATER DEI 1: The Eagles scored three runs in the first inning and went on to hand the Seraphs their first loss of the season during the first round of the Monmouth County Tournament. Grace Heller whacked a pair doubles while going 2-for-4 and Julia Beck added two RBI singles for South (9-3). Winning pitcher Alli Podmajersky scattered five hits and walker none while fanning four. Larissa Chiesa had two hits for Mater Dei (9-1).

TR NORTH 8, BRICK 6: Winning pitcher Ashley Hussey went 2-for-4 with a double at the plate and struck out four while walking none, and Riley Vuyovich went 2-for-3, as the Mariners (10-1) get by the Green Dragons in an Ocean County Tournament first-round affair. Carly Moniz led a nine-hit charge for Brick, ending up 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

JACKSON LIB. 11, SOUTHERN 1: Amy Hickman went 2-for-2 with a double and a walk, and Danielle Budden allowed two hits while earning the victory in the pitcher’s circle, as the Lions bounced back from a loss against Central on Wednesday and cruised past the Rams in the first round of the OCT. Liberty (6-5) will face Pinelands in the OCT quarterfinals.

WALL 6, OCEAN 1: With four divisional games remaining, the Crimson Knights edged closer to the Class B North title with the victory over the Spartans. Sydney Canessa went 1-for-2 with a double and two walks while Elizabeth Scagnelli slugged a solo home run in the sixth to lead Wall (10-1, 8-0).

DONOVAN 4, CENTRAL 2: Kelcy McGeehan went 2-for-2 with a triple and a walk, and Courtney Tylutki allowed three hits, as the Griffins (7-3, 6-2) scored their seventh straight victory after starting 0-3 and knocking the Golden Eagles into second place. Mackenzie Bakker also doubled.

MATAWAN 5, FREEHOLD 2: Danielle Know allowed three hits and three walks while fanning four from the circle, and went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI at the plate, as the Huskies (4-7, 4-4) grabbed the Class B North victory. Hadassah Curry and Sarah Berardo also doubled for Matawan.

NEPTUNE 18, LONG BRANCH 7: Senior Kelly Jardine smashed a home run and a double, and Jasmine Hawkins added a double, as the Scarliet Fliers cruised to their second win of the season. Lois Walton scattered five hits to earn her first victory of the season in the pitcher’s circle.
