The Franklin D. Roosevelt High School softball team scored four runs on six hits in the sixth inning of a 4-0 Mid-Hudson Athletic League triumph over Highland on Monday.
Darien Demelis had a two-run double that scored Jessica Demczar and Allison Pritchard in the inning, followed by an RBI single by Emma Izzo and an RBI double by Sarah Pruner.
Roosevelt coach Pat Moshier credited the Presidents’ bench for sparking the rally.
“We had girls on the bench hooting and hollering and screaming,” Moshier said. “That’s where it came from.”
Demczar and Pruner each went 2 for 3.
In the circle, Pritchard struck out 14 and walked five, allowing only a fourth-inning double to Highland’s Alex Wilklow.
Pine Plains 4, Spackenkill 2 — Anna Lonczak doubled home two runs to highlight a four-run first inning for host Pine Plains in the MHAL game.
Megan Proper singled three times, and Riley Croghan and winning pitcher Monica Smith had two hits apiece for the Bombers (4-7). Smith allowed three hits and struck out six.
Roy C. Ketcham 6, Mamaroneck 1 — Casey Herzog struck out 13 and walked one as the visiting Indians defeated the Tigers.
Herzog took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but Mamaroneck’s Emily Taub had a leadoff triple for the Tigers’ only hit of the game.
Rachel Tierney was 2 for 3 with a double for Ketcham (13-0). Taylor Travis was 3 for 4 with a double. Andrea Bombace was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI. Victoria Pippa was 2 for 4.
Ketcham hosts John Jay at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Our Lady of Lourdes 17, Peekskill 0 — Jen Zazzarino was 3 for 4 with two doubles as the visiting Warriors shut out the Red Devils in a five-inning contest, shortened due to the mercy rule.
Rebecca Sparks had a three-run home run for Lourdes (9-1) and Amy VanDetta had three RBI.
Lourdes hosts Spackenkill at 4:30 p.m. today.
Rhinebeck 15, Onteora 2 — Meredith Mimoso and Natalie Blakey each had three hits, and Samantha Cassata and Christine Hatter each had two hits as the Hawks won.
Hatter struck out three and walked none for Rhinebeck.
Marlboro 10, New Paltz 3 — Meghan Diamond was 4 for 5 with a double and two RBI as the visiting Iron Dukes (10-1) won an MHAL game.
Ashley Votta and Taylor Felicello had three hits apiece for Marlboro, with Votta collecting two doubles and two RBI. Aubrey Bianco was 2 for 4 with a homer.
For New Paltz, Ali Pannuto was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Pawling 5, Poughkeepsie 3 — Natalie Grillo was 3 for 3 with a triple for visiting Pawling.
Kiamani Thomas was 2 for 2 with a two-run homer for Poughkeepsie (9-3).
Ellenville 13, Dover 5 — Julia Sciortino doubled and drove in two runs for host Dover in the MHAL game.
Roxanne Peterson doubled in a run for the Dragons, who host Pawling on Thursday.
Wallkill 5, Red Hook 0 — Jessica Osterhaudt and Lauren Marici each doubled, but the visiting Raiders lost a MHAL game.
Pitcher Ashley Cahenzli struck out two and walked two over seven innings for Red Hook (8-4).
