Get ready for some Monday night football, Delaware style.
Today’s persistent rain has led to six high school football games scheduled for tonight to be rescheduled, with two on Saturday and four on Monday night.
Dover at Cape Henlopen will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday. Cape Henlopen has an artificial turf field, but athletic director Bob Cilento said flooding and high winds in the area made school officials concerned for the safety of fans attempting to travel to the game tonight.
The St. Georges-Howard game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at Baynard Stadium. Woodbridge at Lake Forest, Milford at Polytech, Laurel at Indian River and Conrad at McKean will be played at 6 p.m. Monday.
Also, the Mount Pleasant at Brandywine game, which was scheduled for noon Saturday, has been postponed to 3 p.m. Monday.
Nine of tonight’s games are still scheduled to be played, including Smyrna at Sussex Tech.
“We looked at it, and the weather forecast didn’t look much better later,” Sussex Tech athletic director Nick Pegelow said this afternoon. “We thought it was going to be a wet mess whenever we played, so we might as well play tonight.”
