South Brunswick boys, Ridge girls win in Magee Memorial

The South Brunswick boys and Ridge girls cross country teams won the overall titles at Saturday’s Magee Memorial Class Meet on Warinanco Park’s 3.2-mile course.

On the boys’ side, Tyler Sanders won the sophomore race for South Brunswick in a time of 17:04. The Vikings also had three runners under 17:00 in juniors Kyle McCann (16:57) and Matt Zamorski (16:58) and senior Brian Colhoun (16:49).

North Hunterdon’s David Mugavero won the senior race in 16:18, the fastest time of the day, nine seconds ahead of runner-up Matt Luppino of Westfield.

On the girls’ side, Ridge got a fifth-place showing from senior Sarah Spring (20:08), a sixth from junior Abigail Regner (20:41) and a fourth from sophomore Sophie Spring (20:54).

Individually, North Hunterdon took home two gold medals as junior Eve Glasergreen posted the day’s top time of 19:09 and Cailyn Lavigne won the senior race in 19:23. Union Catholic’s Asia Johnson crossed first among sophomores in 20:18.
