Spackenkill High School’s boys golf team bounced back Wednesday with a 159-179 win over Millbrook at McCann Memorial Golf Course.
On Monday, the Spartans had a 44-match regular season winning streak snapped with a loss to Onteora. On Wednesday, Spackenkill’s Stanley Garrant shot a 1-over 37 and Erik Stauderman had a 38 with each collecting two birdies.
“They were fired up and they knew they had to do it,” Spackenkill coach Keith Humphrey said. “We knew we had to take care of business today. They were in a zone and they felt they had to get the win.”
Rounding out Spackenkill’s scores were Greg Allen, who had two birdies and shot 40, and Jeff Bell, who eagled the par-5 fourth hole and shot a 44.
Tyler Prater had the low round for Millbrook, shooting a 42. C.J. Saenz shot a 45. Jordan Stein and Mitchell Wiemer each had a 46.
Spackenkill (8-1) knows it still has challenges ahead as it moves into October.
“We’re a strong team,” Humphrey said, “but there are other strong teams in the league we have to work through.”
Spackenkill travels to Wingdale’s Harlem Valley Golf Club for a 3:30 match against Dover today. Next for Millbrook (7-2) is a home match against John A. Coleman Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
