Springs track takes first, second at Mayville invite

Mayville Invitational: Springs dominated the boys standings, winning all but one of the 18 events.

Senior Darin Ward won four events, including the 110-meter hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump and long jump. Ryan Grandlic won the 200 and 400, and Sam Schrauth took the shot put and discus.

Mayville’s Dakota Birkholz won the 3,200. The Cardinals took second in six events, while Lomira took second in two.

Mayville edged Springs for the girls title, 104 points to 80. The Cardinals’ Shannon Wagner won the 100, 200 and long jump, while Hope Kubicek won the 300 hurdles and pole vault.

Springs’ Liz Bohn won the 400 and 3,200, while Abby Busse took the 800 and 1,600.

North Fond du Lac’s Dakota Wesenburg won the shot put, while Lomira won two events.
