KENMORE, N.Y.-High winds and rain did not stop St. Joe’s from beating Bishop Timon 15-6 on senior day.

With the wind howling the game turned into a defensive struggle. The Marauders have five interceptions in the game.

St. Joe’s senior Ali Akono had two including one he returned 48 yards to the Timon two yard line to set up a a touchdown.

Sophomore Justin Jones also had two interceptions for St. Joe’s. Jones also caught a 80 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mike McCarthy which gave St. Joe’s a 15-0 lead.

Timon’s only score was on a 13 yard interception return for a touchdown by Derick Simpson.

St. Joe’s with the win is 6-2, 4-0 in their league. St. Joe’s will play rival Canisius next week. The game is scheduled for a 1PM kickoff at Canisius. The stakes are high as the winner earns the Monsignor Martin League regular season championship.

St. Joe’s senior Rod Payne did dress and walked out onto the field in uniform before the game. However his season has been over since he injured his ACL and MCL. Payne is scheduled to have surgery on November 9th.
