St. Joseph High School was awarded the top seed for the Greater Middlesex Conference Boys Golf Tournament, which is slated to start today.
The Falcons, who have posted a 16-1 record, suffered their only defeat in a squeaker (155-159) against St. Peter’s Prep last month. South Brunswick (10-4) is seeded second, Monroe (12-0) is third and Metuchen is the fourth seed. The four have byes until the final round.
The opening-round matchups, at the course of the higher seeds, begin today. Second-round action will be Tuesday.
The finals are scheduled for next Thursday at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, with the top four seeds taking on the surviving teams from the second round.

21-South River at 8-Colonia; 20-North Brunswick vs. 16-Sayreville, winner and 9-Timothy Christian; 19-J.F. Kennedy vs. 15-Woodbridge and 10-Old Bridge; 18-Bishop Ahr vs. 14-Middlesex at 11-J.P. Stevens; 17-Piscataway vs. 13-Spotswood at 12-Edison.

South River-Colonia winner vs. North Brunswick-Sayreville-Timothy Christian winner; JFK-Woodbridge-Old Bridge winner at 7-Wardlaw-Hartridge; Bishop Ahr-Middlesex-J.P. Stevens winner at 6-South Plainfield; Piscataway-Spotswood-Edison winner at 5-East Brunswick.
