SACRAMENTO, CA – The St. Mary’s Rams put up quite a fight, but in the end it was Oakland’s Bishop O’Dowd winning their third straight regional championship with a 58-50 victory at Sleep Train Arena on Saturday.

The Rams (31-3) lose for the first time since Feb. 9 when they fell to Bishop O’Dowd in a 80-59 blowout.

Kat Tudor led the lady Rams fight with 14 points and Onome Jemerigbe chipped in 11 points, but St. Mary’s only shot 27.5-percent from the floor, despite holding the lead 33-28 at halftime.

Asha Thomas led a strong second half for Bishop O’Dowd and finished with 16 points. Oderah Chidom scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.

Bishop O’Dowd (29-3) completely dominated the boards 52-23 en-route to the victory. They won the Girls D-III State Championship last season, but will compete in the new Open Division this time against Winward-Los Angeles, in a rematch.

Undefeated Winward beat Bishop O’Dowd 58-43 back on Dec. 29 in the regular season. The Grls Open Division State Title will take place Saturday, Mar. 23 at 6:00 p.m. inside Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena.
