State track hairstyles: Pardon me, is that a lizard on your head

By

As I walked toward the Drake Stadium press box, I ran into Christian Wittrock, a runner for Pekin of Packwood and asked him: “What is that on your head?”
“A lizard,” the sophomore answered.
Yep, it’s state track meet time.
Athletes love to have a signature visual statement: A special haircut or hairstyle, a temporary tattoo, braids or ribbons.
Wittrock had one of the coolests ‘dos of any athlete I’ve seen today. He has a Mohawk style ridge of hair accentuated by lizard forelegs. Or perhaps a newt?
Keep an eye out for Wittrock in the stands, or other kids finding a distinctive way to celebrate the state meet.
