State wrestling: Today's updates in Class 1-A

5:45 p.m. – Alburnett has the Class 1-A team title in strangle hold, with a 40-point lead. I don’t think they can clinch, though.

5:30 p.m. – Returning champion Brendan Schott of North Linn advanced to the 160-pound title match with a 6-0 win.

5:20 p.m. – Dylan Windfield of Alburnett advances to 160 final with his third pin, with 19 seconds left in the third period.

5:00 p.m. – Blake Marolf of Eddyville-Blakesburg defeats Dylon Rhoads of Don Basco with an escape in an ultimate tiebreaker, at 132 pounds.

4:50 p.m. -Defending champion Hunter Washburn of Alburnett advanced to the 113-pound title match with a 4-3 win.

4:00 p.m. -Class 1-A semis will start soon. Alburnett leads team scoring with 61.5 points, followed by Emmetsburg with 43.

10:00 a.m. – Alburnett continues to lead the Class 1-A team scoring after quarterfinal matches this morning.

The Pirates have 46.5 points, followed by Emmetsburg with 38 and West Marshall of State Center with 34.

Semifinals begin at 3:30.

9:40 a.m. – Defending champion Brendan Schott of North-Linn also advanced to the semifinals at 170, beating Jacob Meehan of Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn

9:20 a.m. -Blake Marolf of Eddyville-Blakesburg defeated Alburnett’s Conner Shulista 8-1 in a 132-pound quarterfinal.

9:10 a.m. – Returning champion Hunter Washburn of Alburnett dominated his quarterfinal match against Jacob Vogel, winning 16-1.

8:45 a.m. – Back at Wells Fargo Arena, where even the radio analyst have cauliflower ear. Class 1-A quarterfinals begin at 9:00 a.m. Semifinals at 3:30.
