10:30 p.m. West Delaware is poised to win its first traditional title since 1991.

10:10 p.m. Spirit Lake Park’s Doug Miner will go for his third state title.

10:00 p.m. Three time state champs Brandon Sorensen and Jake Marlin advance to Saturday’s finals.

4:37 p.m. That will do things for now. I’m going to type and get my story ready from tonight’s quarterfinals. Check back later for updates during tonight’s semifinals.

4:36 p.m. Team scoring leaders through the quarterfinals: 1.) West Delaware 65; 2.) Davenport Assumption 48; 3. Mediapolis 41; 4. Union (La Porte City) 34; 5.) Charles City 25.

4:34 p.m. All of the top ranked wrestlers advanced to tonight’s semifinals.

4:22 p.m. West Delaware’s Jacyn Goelbel, ranked No. 1 at 182 pounds, move on to the semifinals after a 7-0 decision.

4:19 p.m. A night after knocking off the top ranked wrestler at 170 pounds, Grinnell’s Jack Leshen moves onto tonight’s semifinals with a major decision.

4:05 p.m. Two-time state champion Doug Miner, ranked No. 2 at 120 pounds, defeats No. 3 Charles Jones, a Class 1-A champion last season.

4:02 p.m. Both three-timers, Jake Marlin and Brandon Sorensen, advance to tonight’s semifinals with easy wins. Marlin ties a state pin mark with a first period fall.

3:59 p.m. Patrick Woods, ranked No. 1 at 106 pounds, advances with an easy first period pin.

3:12 p.m. Big day of scoring. Second-ranked Davenport Assumption holds a seven point lead over No. 1 West Delaware. Assumption has 10 wrestlers going today. Delaware has eight.
